first goe to the dollar store or walmart and get you a pint of cheap corn syrup, take about four oz out ,add 1 bottle of peppermint extract to the bottle of syrup, put top back on and shake real well, then remove the top add the left over syrup , put top back on and shake again , your good to goe , it will not seperate or goe bad
this is deadly with dp's, pocket sets, cubbies, cage traps or dirt holes
now you can do the same set up with corn syrup and pure peppermint oil from a trap supply store but the lure will be more of a coon call lure . now as a coon call lure you use 1 oz per pint of syrup, just repeat the process above

How much do them coon like pepppermint? I have caught them on Pmint candy dipped in honey but never figgered out if it was the honey or the mint...And yes, I buy pancake syrup at the Dollar Store and use it straight up.

Krank coon really loves the peppermint odor so do muskrats if you can keep the coon out. also i beleave it's due to the sweet taste and the mint odor which i feel is the reason they love it in my area as well as in ohio.coon can be picky one minute they will by pass fish and head for some thing sweet, which the syrup covers that and the peppermint odor just gives it a nice coursity factor
Resoman i like banana to but the problem here is skunks loves the odor of bananas as well, which is not all bad lol.UNLESS you live in town like i do
i also like corn essence added to syrup to work around deer feeders and corn crops

here is a list of single ingredents that can be added to make a different lure for different animals and i will break them down
butterscotch oil (rats, coon) cherry oil (rats, beaver, fox, coon) banana oil (coon, skunks) anise (coon, rats, beaver) apple oil (coon, rats, beaver) blackberry oil (greyfox, coon) carmel oil (coon, muskrat) fig extract oil (coon) peanut butter oil (coon) shrimp essence oil (coon, mink, grey fox) spearmint oil (greyfox, coon, rats, nutria) vanilla oil (beaver, coon, rats)
now these oils are oils from the trap supply house so add 1/2 oz per pint unless it's cold then add 1 oz just do what i posted in my first post

Leftovers works good and are FREE. Any thing we eat they eat almost. Last night I put a small piece of Meatloaf on a piece of Tinfoil in a cage trap(ADC work)The customer called about 15min. after I set the trap saying come back and get the Coon. They were amazed at how fast that worked. Oh the power of Meatloaf--RESOMAN--

Dang Resoman, you wasted a good chunck of meatloaf on a coon? I'm gonna have to come visit you waste bucket, a man can eat good on that sh... stuff..
You know, I tried some peppermint candy last season and I didn't have no luck with it at all. But maybe that was just my luck tho.
It did taste pretty good tho when you were starving on the line : )

Is there really anything a coon will pass up. LOL
Coon and opossum will eat absolutely anything. Some they walk to , some they run to and some they fight each other to get to first. LOL
Login , if you ever get the chance to eat any of his or his wife's cooking , you'll know exactly why it worked so fast. Charlie is a really good cook , or as some at the Phelps county fair call him "Mr. Blue Ribbon"

I agree Troy. Anything that gives off a strong odor will draw coons and if it is sweet,so much the better.
