Tonight would be a good night to get out on that snow and mouthcall a coyote up to the front of a shotgun loaded with #4 buck. All legal as long as you use a non-elctronic call and do not shine a light on the animal while its alive. The shotgun is the choice for several reasons.....

My youngest is at his friends house doing exactly that... I loaded him up with his 20 ga, extra full turkey choke and some #4's... I told them I'd show them how to skin one If they get him, lol

I sit out where I can see in ALL directions....I took a nap today and am not tired so I will get out there later. If I get 200 yds from the house then I am in yote land.

Same way, just making sure that those that don't,know they have an option. Something else to remember is one's shadow.Believe it or not,but on a moonlit night, your shadow can give you away,on snow.Setting with your back to something or in the shadow of a small cedar or such will hide it. Also owls can be a problem.I've had them almost grab me a couple of times. They are such silent fliers, that by the time you see them, they are right there.Really think those talons could make for a ruined hunt lol.Not to mention when they pull up just in your face,it'll startle the snot out of ya.Sent a buddy of mine ,screaming like a school girl back to the truck one night.Didn't know what was wrong with him till I walked back to the truck.Walked back to where we had been and you could see the wing marks where it had pulled up just short of in his face.Had a hard time convincing him it wasn't the boogey man after him, although he never went with me again lol

I got back about half a mile and mouthcalled and waited and nothing. I did see some cottontails which is really rare around here. They were out on the snow socializing. I guarded them momentarily in case a yote ran up to them. That would have been cool. Ithaca semi-auto mag 12.........I went out this morning and saw 6 yotes about 1000 yds away. THey didnt seem to mind my white jeep and just sat there. One by one the went over the hill. Nothing I could do....
