Which one is better..and I have heard tht you can just buy the frame to the alice bags and strap a trash can on it and it will work. What do you think?

I like my alice bag keeps the weight right where it needs to be.

Do you think the trash can thing would work?

I've got a trash can inside of a med. alice bag, no frame. You've got pockets that way.

Check out this video on YouTube " OMP Fur Trapping Series: USGI Med Alice Packbasket ". I'd put up the link if my computer skills were up to par but it's well worth looking into.

The amount of traps I am running there is 0% chance that I could even get a tenth of my line ran before my 5 gallon bucket is overflowing. Walking 2 miles or so on a circuit back to the the car I wouldn't be able to carry enough traps, critters, or anything else for that matter. I like the alice frame with a 20 gallon can attached to it. Can easily carry 15 or so coons at once and a bunch of traps as well.

I took the bag off my ALICE frame and zip-tied a plastic trash can on the frame, ran a few wire loops through the plastic for hammer, trowel handle, rebar etc, zip-tied a couple old socks for pouches and the thing works fine. Only with a pile of traps you need to be strong.

An ALICE pack is only made for humping about 50 pounds of gear. I use mine with trash can inside of it. If it is a long distance with a good load out, then I use a sled that I bought from Menards

Those utility sleds from Menards are pretty handy. I have one but only use it in tall grass or the snow.
