If you want an extremely loud potent call/long distance lure, rotted down Rattlesnake will make a goat puke but, will call critters from miles around.Keep it up high as I have had canines roll the set

If I knew this, I would have saved the meat. When I skinned the two Easterns I have, they stunk to high heaven!!! I thought they were rotten but turns out they just plain smell rotten!

I dont see much rattlers these days. A few years ago, I saw too many. Made a few hatbands and grilled some meat. In MO, they are illegal to kill unless they pose a danger.

Kugers got more out west. I used to know an old lady that grew up in WY. She had a whole gallon jar of rattles. She showed me a picture of herself when she was 12 mounted on her pony with a whip. She said for entertainment (back in 1920) that she rode the prairie on her horse and killed rattlers with a bullwhip. Sitting on her saddle, she could knock the head off a rattler with a whip. Needless to say I was impressed.

I was driving up a canyon in Nevada n '04 as a flash fllod was coming(I was trying to get to higher ground)I counted 13 rattlers in the road in about 2 miles.....I didnt harm any of em. Scary thing is after a cold rain they will climb up sage brush to sun,and dont rattle when elevated
