Don't know why you or anyone don't want to catch yotes. My top yote from MO sold for $40 this past season.

You could make the set not as concealed. Or use fresh bait. But I like out whiting a yote. Them guys are smart.

I think that if you build your set for grey fox (guiding/trap placement) that most coyote will not get caught. I might be wrong but it is what I do. Why would I not want to catch coyote? Pretty simple; no local market, no bounty, need more expensive traps & equipment (at least according to the web), more work to put up, no local mareket, no bounty. The best way to advoid trapping coyote is to shoot as many as you can in the summer months, this is also something to do when trapping season is closed. Caught all my yotes with 1 1/2 North Woods, fully mod.

I forgot to mention; I can not believe that any one with good sense would deliberately try to catch stinking mangy worthless coyotes. Who said we've got sense

I've always been told to apply more guiding to keep yotes away.... greenhorn here, but it makes sense to me seein how finicky they are....

yep... but people catch them every year in fox/cat sets so there really isn't a fool proof method.

"Caught all my yotes with 1 1/2 North Woods, fully mod. " FULLY MOD= more expensive trkyslyr, you got a point; we are trappers My point is, a how to question deserves a how to answer, if you like coyote and coyote equipment thats OK but it doesn't help me to advoid the stinkin things Didnt mean to hyjack your thead and tell ya info you didnt want to hear. Good luck on tryin not to catch yotes in a state where they out number the fox big time. Hope you are abe to gather the info that you are diggin for. By the way, I fully mod all my legholds. It is more easy and humane on the animals you catch.

No not fool proof (no possum proof set either) but I think that heavy guidance and close trap placement help to keep coyote out, as does summer calling/shooting. Put a bounty on them again I'd be trapping them. As is there is no gain in having them plug up my traps. heck 40 to 50 bucks for a put up yote, i might just switch over to yote trapping .lol... last time i trapped i caught 28 yotes without trying , now all i did was sell them green never tried putting one up yet but i will this year.this is the first time ill even try putting up any fur at all.
