I've only had coon a few times, BBQ'd. (most anything taste good when you soak it in BBQ sauce) Well, I'd like to make a fine meal out of one minus BBQ sauce. Anyways, after it's been skinned and gutted, what other steps need to be taken? Are there any glands, nodes, or whatever that need to be removed? Also, do any of you eat coons that have been drowned? I don't know if that would make a difference or not, assuming it was removed on a morning check.

Boil it for 20, change water, boil it another 20 change water, boil it again change water. The fourth time should do it. OPut on favorite spices cook in oven 30 minutes on 300. Should serve 4-5 starving people, n the dog gets the rest.

Dont need much prep but each coon is different. Some been eating fish and some been eating corn.

My wife allows tenderloin, jerky and fish in her kitchen. Everything else stays out in my shop which is OK as I have a stove and fridge out there. Like I say, one coon can be yummy and the next one stink up the place and wind up with the dogs. Won't know until you try....
