I have trap for little over 30 years one thing I don't understand is why some of you use urines at the set and why some of you do that. I alway use it for post set or flat set about ten yard from the dirt sets but what I need know is that it work any better at the dirtholes set and why and how much do you use .I have seen fox or yote eat at the bait set I never once seen them pee on it I am not saying they won't but they will do it about five or ten yard from it around the area of the dead deer.so here what I need to know do you squirt down in the hole or beside of it or back of it or what do you do and why and how much do you use

i usually do a few squirts on the backing of my set when i use urine. like a dog marking its territory, he wont lift his leg and use all of his pee on one spot. so you only want to do a squirt of two.

I use urine at dirt hole sets, sometimes urine from different types of animals at the same set(fox, coyote urine or coyote, bobcat)for example.Only a few drops is nessecary on the backing,or blocking on walkthrough sets, good urine at the set increases the chance your set will get worked.I personally do not put urine or lure anywhere but the set, where the trap is,that is where i want the animals attention.Thats what works for me.I also try to collect the urine from the animals i catch, and use that.

The reason urine is so important is animals the ones were trappin they know what the othr animals been eating when it smells their pee.if is good urine it will get that territorial,(competitive) reponse.Thats why its important to have "good"urine (Meat fed consistent to a wild animal diet)cant go wrong catching the pee of the critters you catch.

Old Charles Dobbins wrote that "When you use urine with food then you are sending mixed signals. Here it is and stay away" Then he went on to say that we all do it, himself included. I think it removes suspicion and makes the critters mind shift gears as to getting one over on his buddies cache. Mr. Dobbins went on to say that he has gone to a urine set with glands rather than food. I thoroughly enjoy his writing. He studied everything and applied common sense. The way he presented his theories were "matter of fact".

But I do use urines only at five or ten yard away .Here why I think that way when I go set out bait out two week before trapping season start they are already coming to get there food almost everyday I do mean almost evreyday they get food. I set out around 10 to 20 set every year that they are sometime they are so came. To me that urine don't matter to them once they are coming to it .Then when trapping start I will put in a post or a flat set wow don't that piss them off when I use my own fox urine that is less 20 hr old . Lot of time I get two fox there .Yes my dad used do same way some of you do but I change my mind after few try out .Old trap shy is easy to get here what I do when I do preseason set after they are coming to your set I use dye nails so they can lose there fear over the nails then I put the trap in season.

Well I use my socks to flesh possum with, don't know if I would want to wipe my butt with it after that. Might tho if needed, I been known to do some intelligent things like that at times.
