Anybody got a clever way to lug coon out of the timber?? Forget the little cart with wheels....... I have a rubber knapsack thet might hold two. I have the pvc pipe handled carriers with the nylon rope. Dog choke chains work too. I sell carcasses and have a skinning machine so I am not skinning in the field... I drop off and drive to wherever I can but still wind up lugging 4 at a time and have the bloody pantlegs to prove it. I think I am answering my own question as I type this but am wondering if anybody has a marvelous revelation...

Plastic sled? Slides across leaves well, stays afloat in little creeks and streams, can drill holes where the side handles are for bungee cords to hold your catch. Just an idea...I ride my atv or drive my truck to all my spots so I don't get stuck with the long walk. www.cas.muohio.edu/scienceforohio/Erosion/images/Sled.jpg

This would be the perfect application of the "CAT CARRIER". A small frame with a handle on top, a muzzle shaped basket on one end for the head, and a pointed rod on the other that screws into it's ....Well i think ya'll get it.

I have a sled for deer but am not carrying it chasing hounds. I guess the old pvc handles with the nylon rope is still trump. I should be grateful I have this problem......

I tried using kids to haul but they got wise to that and hide from me. (They don't like to help skin either. They just like to shoot and ask how much hides are bringing) I got a bad feeling if I tried to trick the dogs into packing that they would make me real sorry. One would chase the other and the whole show would go over the hill and be gone. I even have a nice quarter mare that moves through the timber real nice but comes unglued if you throw anything bloody on her. I will keep lugging and maybe do a drop off somewhere and return with the 4-wheeler whenever I can. Like I say, too much to carry is a good problem. I am so glad I built a skinning machine as it has cut skinning time in half and eleminated alot of soreness. (So I can lug more carcasses)

I have the ropes and dog choke chains and carry 2 coon in each hand. I don't understand why it hurts to carry them. 20 years ago I did it. My little problem has gone away as I ain't been getting alot of coons lately and have been able to carry them. I should be glad it ain't no soaked beaver.

cut the back of the rear foot like when you cut to hang em for skinnin and jam a beefy peice of stick through the hole. great handles and easier on the hands, especially when its cold and they were in water sets!

Make a travois. If it worked well for the plains Indians, it should work for you, too. But, instead of using a horse or dog to drag the travois, you will be the "pack animal." You will be surprised at how much weight you can put on one.

We lost our carcass buyer so maybe pull a few field strips to lighten the load....
