Well another fall meeting has come and gone. It's always good to see everyone and kinda like a family reunion.
We had somewhere around 400 paid folks come through the gate as we don't charge 15 and under or count vendors. Vendor numbers weren't as good as previous years but they still did a good business. Beaver stuff were the most popular items.
We did have several new folks join and some that renewed lapsed memberships.
The new fur biologist attended the board meeting and everyone has agreed that he's going to be a very positive partner for trappers. Past folks in this position spend too much time on the mountain lion and bear and not enough on the primary responsibility of fur bearers.
The MDC raised permits this year with resident and non resident fur buyer license which is just another hurtle for our market. The MTA registered a protest to this and got it overturned.
Next year is district 1 turn to host the meeting and the location hasn't been picked at this time but will be in the eastern part of the state.
Miss Missouri and Miss Mo. Rodeo both made appearances sporting the fur apparel donated to them by the MTA. Both young ladies have a very positive attitude to the harvest of renewable resources as both participate in the outdoor lifestyle. This is very good PR for sportsman as they'll wear their fur vest at public functions.

Always surprised that trapping licenses were cheaper than hunting or fishing considering trapping is a semi-commercial activity. Did they say what the new price was?
