So, I've had an interesting week at work regarding a new handgun. We finally got a couple of decent guns in at RK. A Colt Python in .357 mag and a S&W 686-6 chambered in the same caliber. Colt wants $1600.00 for the Python. It's really nice and has a good feel to it. But that price is too steep for another revolver. The S&W is half the cost but the grips are small and don't fit my hand nearly as well. Plus it's muzzle heavy. We used the S&W when I worked at the prison (before they switched to Glocks), but they were the 4 inch barrel and handled better. Think I'm going to have to pass on both of them. I have a Ruger Vaquaro in .357, so I guess I'll stick with it.

You can modify the grip feel somewhat by changing them out with an aftermarket placement such as Pachmar.

I love revolvers. I have many. I need more. Looking for a .357 cowboy revolver.(got a few 38s but no mag) I hated Glocks. Bad mouthed them for years. Last July, I bought a Glock 40 in 10 mm and boy howdy. Very accurate. Shoots flat out to 75 yards (what pistol does that?) A 10 mm does at 100 yards what a .45 acp does out the muzzle. My 15 shot magazines make me an army of one. If I had to run for my life then I would grab the Glock 40.

I gave the idea of aftermarket grips on the S&W a thought. If the Smith had a shorter barrel it would balance better for me. The Colt is so nice and has a great balance. Just too much for me to spend right now. I bought a Rock Island 1911A1 chambered in 10mm a while back. It's a keeper. Fun to shoot and packs a big punch on the other end. Only shot targets at about 25 yards so far, but it's one of the most accurate pistols I have.

A lot of those guides dropped the 45s for the 10mm to use as bear spray. I carried mine during alternative season but never used it.
My favorite pistol to hold and shoot is my 1860 Colt. Something about those open top revolvers pleases me. I have two that have been converted to cartridge.
A gun I was seriously looking at was a Ruger 44 mag revolver with a 3 1/2" barrel. Dont laugh as critics claim they shoot good.

I've got a Glock 40 10mm. I took 2 deer with it last fall. I have a Leopold red dot on it. It shoots better than me.

I do not reload for 10mm. Those type cases chamber off the mouth of the case and the bullet. No rim or shoulder for a fail safe. If you are off a little then cartridge is not seated right depth. Same with 9mm. I buy 10mm for 40 to 50 cents a pop.
