I know this doesn't answer your question, but why would you want bait on the trigger? Also, smoked pork would be Waaaay down on a list for mink bait. Fish or muskrat are the top 2 baits for mink(the only ones in my opinion). The conibear was designed to take animals trying to pass thru them. They take a few muskrats baited under ice and work pretty good for beaver that way too,but for mink,I'd think having the bait where they have to pass thru the trap would gain youy way more mink.

Eat the pork. Catch some fish for bait. Boxes are just 2 sides, top, bottom, and screen on the back. Make the box where the body grip just slides in and 24" long. Cut a couple slots for the springs. Use a fence staple on the chain to keep your trap and box together.

Blind set would most likely be more productive. Mink don't have to poke their heads in that box. But if you place the trap where he already wants to go, well he will be waiting on you in the morning.
