No not grizz- DH (deer hunter) made a new kind of trap called DHDP sent me a handy 5 pack and they work fine He has some one going to mass produce them bet can't remember. This little trap is not like any DP (dog proof) trap on or off the market today its a new concept.

now the Duke DP is on the market, You will see it being very hard to compete on mass production scale. I agree the DHDP is very nice so does the SOB that stole 3 on mine this season! But at this point homemade traps will be just that devices that only a few will be able to be proud of. The traps made in Korea= I DON'T CARE, but the Duke company is American made and I haven't had no problems yet with any of their products, and at a great price. The owner of this company has listened to it's customers, advice and complaints and has produce so that I can produce. They don't just put it on the market and say this is what I have take it or leave it! Matter of fact he needs to be appalled for the risks he takes. 2 new products in one year = great job. now if someone could come up with a long handle 3 in one digger.

Is the DH trap in production?
The square DP that I was refferring to IS NOT THE DH....and is going into production. This trap has some very interesting features not seen on any other DP that I have seen yet.

man is that spring strong, wish it wasnt as strong.im afraid it might just brake the leg instead of holding them. I have made a few homemade DP's and IMO you need to weaken the spring a little. Full power is way to much. How I weaken mine, Bolt the spring on the tube, put the tube in a vise spring up. The spring arms will be pointing straight up and I like mine to be at about a 45 degree angle from the tube. Hold one of the spring arms down against the tube and smack the coil part with a big hammer (actually takes a lot of force to bend the spring) let off the spring arm and see where its setting. Just go a little at a time until you get it at about a 45 degree angle. Then do the same on the other side of the spring. This will take some of the pressure off and the spring will still have more than enough power to hold any coon that gets in your trap. I will try to take some pics tomorrow of how I weaken mine......

I made DPs this year. Then I had to change a few things. Then change them again. I trimmed the hole with rod so paw cant pull out and made them two way trigger. I got enough time in them that $13.99 for a DHDP is a bargain. Attachments:

Very interesting stuff. This is what a trapping website is all about!

It's all I can think about while I sit in my office at work. Actually there is a little frustration as some post some good stuff (trap tech) and nobody replies and the post dies. Then somebody else posts something really stupid and everybody goes bananas and its 3 pages long. IMO....
