Well ounce deer season get over with I'll be calling coons again this year. I'll try and figure out my camera on my phone so I can post pictures this year. I don't know if I'm going to try and hit them hard yet or not, All I know is I have a ball calling them.

I used to love it, and we did a LOT of calling for all critters. However, now that a bunch of folks do it, and some do it very badly, it's got harder. Night time is always best, and I can tell some stories. Being charged by a 'coon bailing out of a barn loft is FUN.
Good luck. Send pictures. We love our Predator Porn.

Go for it. I will do some calling too. I made my own caller out of an mp3 player. I downloaded those coon calls from Minasta (?) up in Iowa. Somewhere on this forum is an mp3 file from Willie Mallard.

Calling coons is a blast. I can't Walk like i used to so I ride my 4 - wheeler along side of the river, creeks timber or whatever I'm hunting. I'll spot a den tree and pull away just a bit and start calling. Well I should do pretty good this year since most land owners won't let any trapping but will let me call them. I don't understand

I was hot and heavy a few years back when prices were up. Got to where I used a scoped 10-22 with a 25 shot clip and carried a sawed off 20 gauge on a sling in case things got out of hand.
My favorite spot was on the creek where there were giant den trees. When I came through with the dogs at night you could spot light 4 or 5 of them laying on a limb next to a hole. Couldnt shoot them or they would die in the hole. They had gone out and fed and got a drink and were basking in the moonlight. Next year the corporate farmers bull dozed the area. Dont know what they gained. Not tillable.
You can call on big brushpiles too. I have pulled coon and bobcat out of brushpiles.
The business of trapping permission. Most people dont trust a stranger trapping. They picture him as a jack wagon who is going to spread a bunch of traps all over for livestock and pets and kids to get caught in. I talk to them holding a DP and stick my finger in it and show them how terrible it is. If I got their attention then I talk about being selective and tell them I am not making a minefield of bad sets.
I use the sow call and the squall call. If you PM me an email address then I could send you a 6 mg file that I paid $20 for ten years ago. Download it like music on your phone or go mp3 or burn it on a CD.

Testing to see how to post pics from my mobile phone. This is my eldest granddaughter, 20 yrs. old and a 3rd yr. college pharmacology student at Columbia Mizzou and University of MO Kansas City. Super smart and super cute! And she loves to hunt. Well, I'll try to explain how I was able to post from my mobile. It's really not any different than from a desktop. But from my phone, I had to scroll to the very bottom of the page. In the lower right hand side of the screen you will see the "Desktop" link. Click on that and it will take you to what you see on your PC or laptop. Just do as you usually do and it works great! ..... and now you know! Kind of a PITA but hey.... it works!

I use desktop and cant find an option to attach a picture but I am a cyber-dummy. Okay, I used the Quote button to get to this screen. The reply button gets you here too but without the quote. Notice the little square (Icons) in the attachment below and the larger Add Attachment button too. See the blue arrow pointing to the image icon? Select it and you can type in or paste the image address to insert an image that's from another page or website. The Add Attachment will let you attach an image from your computer. Good luck!

I would be more worried about hitting them than taking pictures. It happens unexpectedly sometimes.

I think if you went coon calling today then that old coon would reach his paw out the knothole and give you the finger.
