I'm catching and putting up some very nice coon up here in Central Iowa. I'll sell them at the ITA auction in January and see how it goes.

I am going camping this weekend and it ought to be a litter warmer and wetter.
Last night I was working outside in the dark and the whole world was covered with coyotes. Some of them couldnt be more than 100 yards away. Got me fired up.
Gonna have to CR some trails and make a couple flat sets. Kinda hate too because I have to pen the dogs up. I havent seen any deer hunting (or I'd a shot them)
I hear they a worth a couple bucks if they are put up.

I was in the shed putting up some coon last night and some coyotes were close enough I could hear them barking over the radio. They were gone by the time I grabbed a gun and spotlight though, of course.

I need to read that new law allowing night vision for coyotes.

set 14 predator sets, 3 coon sets and 20 Dp's the last 2 days, it was cool this morning. With wet ground and freezing, I used lots of wax dirt.

I had a plane fly over real low, white with light blue lettering said PATROL on bottom of the wing. Is that a MDC or Highway Patrol plane?

Congrats, trapdog. It is good to see folks out there trapping. I paid my way to college with fur trapped southeast of you in Keokuk county, IA. Muskrats, mink and coons were thick. Early morning fun!! Keep it up and you'll be amazed at how much you'll get at the Iowa auction. Ain't any muskrats left in those parts. All the creeks are gone.

I’ve watched Gronys last 2 stops in Iowa, he put them on YouTube. I can’t get excited on them coon prices. Some guys throwed out the smaller ones and are getting a $5 average.

Don't know if I'll be amazed or not, but I'm sure gonna sell them! If I can't make any money I can at least support the ITA. Yes, prices suck but coon are abundant, easy to catch and easy to put up. I enjoy every part of the process and just don't have it in me to quit. Next season is never guaranteed to any of us so I ain't gonna sit any out for low prices.

Got a pond close to home choked with willows. Walked in and no sign of rats. I would love to get into the rats.

It shows -3 outside right now (I was just there) with steady 20-25 mph winds. Man oh man.

Back when coyotes were worth trapping I'd have been out this morning running traps but not resetting. Varmints would have moved good before the bottom fell out. Yesterday I pulled the otter sets on a pay job. Been a week and half and no more sign of otter. Caught 2 there.
