Just sprinkled here. Corn is tasseling so a 2 inch rain would be a game changer. Rains just seem to go around us and tease us.

I camped up by Holden and the storms blew around us and finally hit about ten. Got half an inch and I'm in a tent. At home there was an inch and a half in the gauge.

I got 2.5" Saturday afternoon and another 1" yesterday. Grass is starting to green up again. Hopefully some summer wild mushrooms will pop up.

It's finally raining here. Not sure how long it will last. Forecast called for a CHANCE of PM thunderstorms, but it's been wrong so much lately, I didn't believe it.

Miserable outside on the fourth. Real muggy. I played with guns on the back deck to make some noise.

It poured last night with high scary winds. This morning there were tree leaves scattered everywhere and a few things blown around in the yard. 3/4" in the rain gauge and muggy and foggy.

Rained hard last night with strong winds. Something hit the roof, not sure what it was. Lots of lighting and thunder.

This rain isnt filling any ponds but it is keeping the crops alive. We planted soybeans in wheat stubble last week and the rain is a crowd-pleaser.

Rain has been spotty around here at best. I drove up to north part of the county(12 miles) and they hadn't received a drop.
Beans planted in stubble here are really struggling. Corn is in critical stage now and any moisture would help. Some corn is burning up.

A lot of wind damage, trees down all over, 12,000 customers with power still out for a week. Temps in the high 90's and humidity to match. MISERABLE!!! All that firewood laying around and I can't do shit about it.

Only silver lining for this drought is increase in small game and turkeys. We didn't have those cold rainy days that do turkey poults in and drown out nests.

Neighbor stopped in and said to start fishing his pond. He says its gonna dry up this year. I said okay. Its old and filling in with silt and has big cat in it. Driving home I saw lots of destruction from the storm. Trees down. Neighbors big steel dumpster blew a 100 ft and tumbled down an embankment and its floating in the creek.

5/8 of an inch yesterday with a lot of wind. Few trees blown over and a few limbs down. Lost power for about 45 minutes.

Finally got a decent amount of rain. It got a little windy for about 10 minutes but caused no damage. There was 2.3" in the rain gauge this morning. Hopefully area crops received the same. My pond came up about a foot. Still needs 3' or so before it reaches the overflow. I'm excited to maybe find some mushrooms. Chanterelles, wood ears, Chicken of the Woods, and other choice edibles. I picked a gallon of wild blackberries last week. Jan made a very delicious cobbler last night! I'm gonna have to get my butt back out there a pick a couple more gallons. This time when it's cooler and with long pants and long sleeves.

My pond is down to maybe 2 feet of water. The only fish in it are shell crackers and shiners which I put in there 7 or 8 years ago. With the water so low floating pimrose has started and now covers half the pond. Its an old pond, its silted, the neighbor next door said he bought his place in 1972 and the pond was there then, so I think its time for a re-do

Several old ponds around here being cleaned out since the drought has lowered them down so much. Folks used to keep a buffer of tall grass around them to prevent siltation. Now I see some that are farmed to within feet of the shore line.
The holes and ditches along the Mo. river are full of dead or dying fish. Those water levels fall and reflect the river levels as the water table recedes. The river is as low as I can remember in a long long time. Fishing has sucked , for me, because of it.
