I am more excited to hear about the mink than the otter. The guys that catch a lot of mink catch them in places you wouldnt think. Missouri has always had a borderline mink population except lake tannycomo.

Seeing quite a bit of mink sign Mike. They are running the air space under the ice where the water has dropped. Once they find good hunting they stay around a bit.

I saw more mink this year while fishing than I have in years, mostly at the small lakes I frequent. The Concordia city lake is chock-FULL of them. I saw them at Blind Pony, Hazel Hill, Maple Leaf, Manito and Springfork too. AND Truman and LOZ.

Dale- I thought you never went anywhere fishing? Just ribbing. I see mink on float trips down south. Paul Dobbins wrote years ago that Missouri would never be a big mink state.

Tim Wilson has done 60 some in a season so they're out there. Just gotta weed thru all the coons on a quest for them. I never trapped for them until freeze up then only set at riffles .

I have been to Tim Wilsons and he traps clear up North on the prairie. Wide open spaces and he catches on tiny ditches growed up with brush between fields.

He comes as far south as the Missouri river around Carrolton and Wakenda. There are as many in the south, it's just they don't leave much sign in that rocky environment. The thickest I've ever seen is Taneycomo.

This warming trend has already brought the coon out and I'm sure possums will follow.

Wind blew all night and it was 50 degrees. Some moisture went in the ground and some went into the air. I am headed out camping tonight and will come back for New Years Eve. Next week I will go after my trail cam bobcat and try to thin the yotes off my place. I need to take my hound pup out for an education.

About half way to work I noticed everyone driving 65 and nobody trying to be a hero. By the time I got to Grandview it was slip slide. Sometimes if it is really bad I just call in.
