Got the water pump in and no leaks. Need to finish up with putting wire connectors on the wires. Only about a 10 minute job. Have to check the water heater to make sure it's still working. I have an OLD feather bed that's going to be the mattress, belonged to my great-grandmother. Next project on the camper is to figure out a heat system. It has a propane furnace that hasn't worked since I've owned it. Same with the oven in the stove. Might be a bad thermo-couple. I don't really need an oven, but it's there so might as well give it a try.

My central heat messed up so I dont use it. My buddy heater is all I need.

A buddy heater is my back up plan for the camper. It was too small for the teepee tent, but the camper has a lot less area to heat than the tent. I can hook up a larger tank to it. The 1 lb canisters would have to be replaced too often.

I got a Mr. Heat that takes a gas grill bottle and it runs forever. I use the little cans out in the stand (if it gets bad) I kinda miss the old wood stove in the wall tent days.

My Grandmother spoke about feather beds. I have one that is old. Been rolled up for 60 years but I checked it and it is still good. Grandma cleaned everything before she put it away. She said that she went out and found an empty shed and dumped all the feathers out of the mattresses. She laundered the pillow tick covers. Then she went back in the shed and restuffed everything. Just another amazing thing she did.

Is yours the red color Buddy heater or the black one? I'm not sure what the difference is. The one I have is black, hooked up to the gas grill bottle it lasted 4 days running constantly last deer season. I worry about the fumes using it inside.

This is the bomb. Figuratively not literally. I use it in the house when power goes out. The gas grill bottle is inside. They were sold out last year. No fumes. I can leave this on low all night. I was a little leery at first having that bottle indoors but 3 years later I am okay with it. Advantage is it keeps the propane warm. Propane remains liquid in freezing temps and tank pressure drops.

We have a blind behind the house thats heated but my brother in law put it 20 foot up on telephone poles. It has a heater but I like to open all the windows for a quick shot so I dont run the propane unless I want to take a break to warm up. My other cabin is on the ground and has a woodstove. The deer dont mind the smoke rolling out of the chimney as I have fallen asleep and woke up to deer standing right there. Down at deer camp, I sit in an open stand with the little buddy by my feet. I dont run it until I get cold and feel like leaving and then get warmed up. You got to love propane. I also charge those little bottles off the big bottles. Works okay but carry extra in case your bottle didnt get a good fill.

A friend of mine at work has a little pop up camper for sale. The canvas in the sides have been replaced with plywood and 2x4's. It has a line run for hook up to propane and a single bed. There are three windows and of course the door. Not sure about plumbing. It's light weight and pulls easily. Tall enough inside so that someone six feet tall can stand up with no trouble. He offered it to me for $300. Said if I don't want it, he'll probably tear it down this weekend and just make a trailer for his lawn mower out of it. I really don't need another trailer sitting around, but I'm considering it anyway.

I used to want an Aliner 20 years ago. They were a pop up but all the panels were solid. They weighed 800# and you could pull with a car. They even made a smaller version to pull with a 4 wheeler. I was floored by the $8000 price tag. I looked them up recently and they are $20,000. LOL. Not me. That pop up is a good deal if the guy did a good job on the wood replacement. Otherwise its a lawn mower trailer.

The roof is the original Jayco from the factory. He just replaced the sides with wood. Floor is solid. It's a one person unit for sure. All the wiring works. I like the idea that it's lightweight. It's not going to have stuff like a fridge or a shower like my old camper. But those things only work when it's hooked up to a generator. Coleman stoves and a big cooler work OK for me. I have until Friday to make up my mind.

I have posted before that I thought of making my own camper. I have a pop up trailer that I haul lawnmowers on. Build a dog house about 6 x 10 and cover with tin on metal studs. You just need enough room to lay down and stand up. The rest is negotiable.

Went camping with Ray (waterwell) Lohrs this weekend. He just had to set up his new Forrester tent that he bought off of Crazy Bob who quit rendezvousing.

Going tomorrow to bring the new little camper home. I bought it several weeks ago, but with the wife being in the hospital again, I never went over to pick it up. Had a hard time because my co-worker has different hours than I do. Going to try to install some roll insulation inside. Plus the usual stuff to make it to my liking.

That rolled insulation is itchy stuff. They made it in sheets that your can cut with a knife. My brother took his camper shell and insulated it with the one-inch blue foam in a sheet. He just did a real good job of fitting and it wedged right between the frame members. He bragged that he heated the interior with a candle.

I got the new camper home a couple of days ago. It's really small. No shower or toilet, just not enough room to put one in. Pretty much just a place to sleep and stay warm. There is enough space to cook inside if you need to. No fridge, but I hardly used the one in the other camper anyway. It pulls easy which is a plus.
