Groenewold Furs have cancelled all routes

They plan to repost some routes in December but have cancelled all previously scheduled routes to the northern and eastern states. Not sure if they will have routes in MO or not. Fur market is super volatile and going nowhere fast.

Something has happened in the last couple of weeks to make an uncertain fur market even less certain. Groneswald isn't the only buyer that's postpone buying.

Due to difficult and uncertain market conditions, as of November 8, 2021, GFW has postponed all USA routes.
We will post new route information at www.gfwco.com in December 2021.

Derek Peterman says he has orders that are going to need to be filled. Wants all the cats and rats he can find. He doesn't have any interest in beaver or coyotes at this time. He will be interested in castor though. SAys he needs to buy several thousand coon and would rather them to be finished but would buy good green at reduced price.

If he had a decent price on finished coon then I could get busy.

Mike he said up to $10 for 3x finished. That kind of price means $6 or $7 average on a finished lot.

With a price like that it would be a way to justify putting up "incidental" catches but I am not getting out the DPs for that.

Had a couple coyote hunters visit deer camp. They said they heard Peterson this and Peterson that. I said you need to talk to him directly because I don't think things are that rosey.

Things in china have made a new record bad. They are shut down supposedly due to covid, as much as anytime in the past. Seems my and probally all other fur buyers orders we had from there is very uncertain now. I thought we had some for sure orders. Now it dont sound good. Basically these chinese are jerking us around. Will post when I know more. Im gonna hold off on buying green coon or green coyote till things are more clear.
All the other buyers that are cancelling routes are dealing with the same issues."

Saw where grony said stick with the water. Isn't going to buy any coon or coyotes. Beaver,rats, and otters is it.

When I go up to Omaha, I see big ponds along the highway loaded with muskrat huts. Each hut has a trap pole sticking up and theres a john boat nearby. I would love to get into the rats like that. Used to see populations of rats 40 years ago around here. Now it is just here and there.

Got a phone call out of the blue. There was a buddy I used to trap rats for and he passed away. His widow dug my phone number out of his cell phone. Rats are back at it again. She says their tunnels are destroying her dam on the pond in front of the house. She says she shot 6 last weekend (ouch). I suppose I need to have a look see.
Their gravel drive runs over the dam. There is no evidence of bank feeding as they live off the lilly pads and cattails. Last time I just drove along planting 110s on stands all the way down the dam. Used to get 3 or 4 a day.
With gas the way it is, I might lose money. Homer was a good man and I would like to help the family so here goes nothing.
