Guess I will be pitching 900 1.00-3.00 coon and and some beaver pelts soon. I talked to one of them today (they are very difficult to reach) and they cannot buy again for a while. Not sure whether he meant month, years, or forever. I asked but not answers.
Haven't checked the website yet but he said it already informed folks the routes were cancelled.
No biggee. Just badd JUJU! haha! That is a turkeyslayer quote.
I am sure a few of you fellars have access to the modern internet and know how to type in a search. Check out his site and maybe even give the business a call. Find out the facts!!
I have enjoyed my season of fur buying. Fewer trappers but all super talented and mostly ole timers.

Contrary to pessimistic beliefs, I think FHA will still have their auction even though it will not be quite a robust and have lots of internet buying. Glad I don't have anything up there but think trappers were wise to finish and ship their stuff to them.
COVID-19 is real. The best part of the COVID-19 scare is how dumb arses who do not believe in facts, have had to at least act smart. Once all is over, they may have a slight education.
I have been buying otters, cats, yotes, and foxies for way over market price all season long and selling them for a tad more. Done buying as of today except for two or three I promised due to major conflicts in their schedules. Crossed the 200 bobcat line yesterday but have sold 120 so only 80 left. Bought 12 accidental otter catches today for 20, paying a trapper 6 to skin them and have them sold for 30. He traps beaver in the bootheel for the counties and gets $50 per beaver. He has to turn in the entire beaver but could take the castors if he wanted. He chooses not to. He farms 1000 acres of rice and cotton so has no interest in castors. Very interesting young trapper.
Keep your heads up! Be creative!!

I keep getting NAFA emails. Something about they are hosting FHA auction. Even though I lost less money from NAFA than most folks. I shipped to them last time the market was high till their first sale and lost lots. Since then. no buyers in the huge 100 or more mile radius. I only buy because my 200 trappers have no place else to go. Like all businesses, someday I will drop the ball and I guess folks are gonna have to find a place to sell their freakin furs. Surely someone on this forum or trapperboy can have the gonads to buy fur. Go into the business to break even and be honest and you will either lose a little, break even or make a little. If you plan to make a profit, get a job at McD's or Walfart or some other corporation for $8/hour. Way more money but no fun. Talking to the ole time trappers is precious to me. In ten year, all serious ole timers will be gone due to mother nature. Time for a few young pups, 60 or younger, to swell up!

Well I guess the Canadian government has put a stop to FHA having their auction. I guess the Gubment in Canada has way more control over the fur sales than I ever expected. Never too old to learn! Without Canada, Russia, China, Italy and a handful of other countries, the fur market would be really in bad shape. Haha! Write your president a thank you letter, He has had a huge impact on our markets! Praise the Lord!! He saved the markets and put fur back in black again!
