"6 inch jaw spread law." Wait. is this what you mean? www.sos.mo.gov/CMSImages/AdRules/csr/current/3csr/3c10-8.pdf(1) Traps shall have smooth or rubber jaws only, and may include foot-hold traps, Conibear® or other killing-type traps, foot- enclosing-type traps, cage-type traps, colony traps with openings no greater than six inches (6") in height and six inches (6") wide, or snares (as defined in 3 CSR 10-20.805) set under water only, and cable restraint devices (as defined in 3 CSR 10-20.805). Use of pit- falls, deadfalls, snares set in a dry land set, and nets are prohibited. If that is what you are referring to, it is only colony-cage traps under water that it applies to. No known size restrictions on foot holds in Mo.

Put the Lam's INSIDE the jaws and leave a gap, or mod the "Dog" to fit.

I just took that the sentence never having a period to mean all traps used on dryland need to be less than 6 inches . MDC Should change the wording on this law. And the fact that it is really the only place I have ever seen anything related to trap size laws

I think I have maybe a dozen 1.5s. I only use them on drowners.

Has anyone ever talked to a conservation officer about this it seems to me that it worded just right to get you in trouble if you get a warden that want's to be difficult about it . I know some people that's had problems with laws not be very pacific and got some hefty fines

Clay Creech is a game warden and the president of the MTA and would be more than happy to answer any questions you would have abut trapping.

The less laws you have then the better off we are. It is worded ok just vulnerable to false interpretation. If you got any concerns then ask on here or call Jeff City or take John up on his suggestion. I think Clay would be best because sometimes Jeff City cant answer your question and transfers your call. There are some deer hunting regs that are kind of screwy and I had to ask.
