It was very dead.....low numbers. Clay did a great job putting things together and the demos were awesome. Learned a lot!! I do have to say, the number of MTA members was sad. I've only been a member a short time but I'm very disappointed in the membership information they gave out. I'm a big believer in associations, they can do great things. If you can't be a hugely active member you can be a silent one by joining and providing support monetarily. With a crappy fur market we need everyone more than ever. The antis will be taking advantage of this down time. I encourage everyone to re-up their membership or make their initial join. We need everyone right now not just when prices are high!!! Trapping is a rapidly dying tradition and it's going to atrophy even faster when people give up on it. Off my soap box!

I do agree I am getting ready to join my self I see the benefits of a association. I chatted with Robbie about the demands and it wasn't as bad as I first thought it would be

I went for few hours. There were plenty good demos and lots of fur handling it's down market traffic and venders were low but I am glad they took the time to come and try to make a living and help us out with our need. You go to these to learn and visit old friends and if you didn't get that then you expect to much. I also rejoined mta like there politics or not we do need number to keep the sport alive! Did see a kid in the trap setting contest get his thumb caught in a no4 double longsping lol they got him out and he threw the trap down and set it! He didn't give up👍

Numbers were low both for members and guests. The vendors were the same that always attend, but that's great it's good to catch up with them from year to year. This year was Callie's, my 11 year old daughter, first time at a rondy. She loved watching all the demos and going around smelling all the lures and baits. She can't wait till next years rondy and she is already planning her fall trap line. She wants to do a demo at next years convention, so that'll be something she works on till then. I really want to thank all the members of the MTA and attendees of the convention that took the time to talk to a little 11 year old girl and make the past weekend one she will remember for years to come. Good luck to everyone this fall, may your traps be full of sellable fur.
