Its not that simple.....For years I used a zebco 404 with the face opened up to an inch 1/2 and 50# test line. Also used a spool with squid line. Right now I use an AMS retriever and never looked back. For 30 years, I shot an arrow tied up injun style and then learned I was going to burn in Hades and kill myself because I wasn't using the safety slide system. You need to factor in range and size of fish and rate of fire to know what you need and don't need. You can make your own spool and arrow or you can buy a Cajun starter kit or you can get an AMS retriever for $100. Its all up to you. I am assuming you have a bow over 40#. If you want to use a compound then I cant help you because I never did that....Against my religion

Yeah you were. Using a compound is a joke. Makes it all real complicated and more expensive with nothing gained and the loss of the ability to shoot fast and aim instinct. I am sure there are folks out there with them but I don't get it.

I've seen folks try to bowfish with SIGHTS. Weird.
Myself, I haven't been in probably six years. Just don't have the time. It sucks.
