Well the Calico Bobcat is now mine.
I had planned on having it mounted but decide not to, maybe, I don't know.
Dropped off to my fur buyer. He says it the best cat he has seen. He had a male last year but this one beats it.
Sent photo to taxidermist, he said if I don't have it mounted he want's to buy it. He says that's spot pattern is rare.
I called fur buyer he going to put into freezer and let me decide by Sunday.
I trying to get photos uploaded to post on here.
What do you think I should do? No answer is wrong. I have to make a final decision but really how rare is this??
I a short time trapper compaired to most. Is sure is pretty.

Oh don't want to forget him. This was the second catch with Cable Restraints. I new something was going under cables and had it just like the book said on both but guess they decide to thru this time. Little different using cables.

I'd mount it only one I've ever caught I never mounted and now I regrete it. Now would be a good time to mount since market is down any way.

Nice cat but on the small side. it is your money but what 600.00 or so to have mounted and loss of fur value? Everyone's idea of a trophy is a different thing really. if you think this will be your best colored cat then I say get it mounted, if you feel you could do better and the fur buyer Is. Willing to give you good cash then sell it.

Mount it. What's it gonna cost vrs what's he gonna pay. Ultimately it's your decision but if I caught something rare or extremely beautiful I'd be looking at taxidermist over buyer. You won't remember what you do with the money anyway, but you'll be able to sit back and admire your trophy and the day on the trap line.

As purty as it is I'd get it mounted, but the choice is yours.

Thanks for all the comments on this thread. Threw this together quick. Here is photo again of the Bobcat with Rosetta Spots and the 9 I have caught on my property typical markings. Tried to do a search on the internet about Bobcat with Rosetta Spots little to no information, that is for sure.

what i think i would do is freeze it whole with all legs spread. then take it to the auction. may be worth your while. if you dont get what you feel its worth then have it mounted. and maybe kim could give you some insight on taxi price.

If you freeze it whole for taxidermist wrap feet and head in paper and then tape them. Then put whole thing in garbage bag.
Looks like about a 16lb female. Very nice looking. I'd expect it could bring 200-250 on taxidermy.net

Money's tight around these parts...especially in the winter time...If it were mine and I could get $100 it'd be gone....if the offer was less...I might hang on to it....while it's beautiful to us the buyers and the market always feels differently.....I always thought the whiter the belly the bigger the paycheck
