I have a couple of pond dams, that I would like to put traps on some day, but don't want animals tearing up vegetation, never used drags. One a small watering hole dam, they won't go far. One is a large pond dam they can acutally make it a long away.
I see the Saber Tooth Drags, and looks like they put some type of chain.
Have you used them? What is your opinion? What do you suggest?

On the large pond dam,you may want to try some slidewires.Get them off the dam to where you want them. Tom

On the small watering hole dam I could do a slides. But on the big one that would be alot of cable in my opinion. Wonder what kind is in the video. Freedom Brand Saber-Tooth Drag The Freedom Brand Saber-Tooth Drag is a highly aggressive drag that locks up predators fast. You don’t need brush or trees or roots to pin a coyote where you want it to stay. This drag digs in quickly because of the sharp, angled drag points and will pin a coyote in a grass field. The solidly built Freedom Brand Saber-Tooth Drag weighs 2.65 lbs. and is 12 1/2” long x 7 1/2” wide. It has a deflector rod and is constructed of 1” x 1/2” flat steel stock. This drag is made for the trapper who doesn’t want to lose time tracking down coyotes.

Looks like you are looking into this more then needed, just stake the trap and be done with it. A 12" chain on a trap isn't gonna make that big of a catch circle.

I'm on my phone. Pictures aren't downloading. Locklear copied my drag off of some I sold Kevin Patterson only he messed them up by trying to make them bigger and heavier...... the ones I saw looked like a boat anchor. Definitely not something anyone with field experience would use in the field.

Robert, this link might work; www.schmittent.com/freedom-brand-saber-tooth-dragT of strap iron with teeth like cotton pickers and chain deflector around the back. Horn, I don't know what you're after, but two thoughts; as mofo said short chain=small circle, Have you thought of trapping at the ends of the dam? If the critters are using that as a bridge, they have to get there from some where.
