Kinda answered your own question when you asked to buy some. Yes,there is a market for skulls. The price varies from buyer to buyer.Marc(silverfox) bought some the last couple of years. Cleaned and whiten skulls bring fair money from tourist and at craft fairs. If your willing to put the effort into it,almost every part of the animals have a market.

I made more off my skulls this past season then I did my pelts. Just saying. But I was at the right place at the right time. And yes, they were cleaned, degreased and whitened.

Depends on species of course but a taxidermist may sell you skulls. Or possibly give them to you but most modern big game mounts use part of the skull on bigger antlered critters. Furbearers are mounted on molds but if the skull is cryshed( club) or shot its worthless. I made good money in the 90's selling skulls. Its not easy cleaning them. I think you may want to research it a little more. Flea marketeers buy them here. They make "indian" stuff out of them. Deer skulls with antlers attached command a premium. Watch your game laws too. I know a guy that deboned a whole mallard and sdd it, busted, migratory bird, big fine, big legal fees. If you have time dream catchers, "totem poles " etc with skulls, bones, antlers, ribs etc attached with feathers and maybe scrap tails bring good money. We've made beaver hoops before with a tanned beaver, feathers and a beaver skull. They've brought $100 before.
