I bought another doz. bridger #2's. Spent the last couple of days in the shop getting them all moded up... Stock trap Factory baseplate Removed all the pans and welded the pan to the pan shank. Added a few welds to the riveted on baseplate, the crossframe, and the pan post. Added a spring pin support Stiffend up the dog and welded it shut Jaw laminations And the chain setup... Swivel, 2 links #3 american chain, swivel, shockspring, swivel, and a link of chain to quick link my cable stake to. I also weld all the J-hooks shut...

Reworked a doz. bridger 1.65's also. Creekrunner and myself each bought a half doz of these traps last year. Someone had already done a great job modding them up but they used #9 wire for the laminations. I'm not a fan of the #9 wire so we ground them off and relaminated them with 20 penny nails...

Gunsmoke...sweet mods. couple questions for ya if ya get a sec. on the Spring Pin plate you made...what is the design behind it? is it so a critter cant get the springs off? and do you feel that welding the pan to the pan post is needed? i got some #2 bridgers not to long ago and i 4 coiled them, laminated them and worked the chain over but that is it. courious to see what your thoughts and reasons for some of the other mods you did to yours if you dont mind would help a lot.

The spring pin support will help keep the spring pins from getting bent/ lose the 4-coil springs. I had a couple of spring pins get bent up last season. A coyote should be able to drag this one around and never bend the ends of the spring pin. I weld the pan to the pan shank on all my traps. I've had pans get popped off the shank before to never be seen again. I weld the pan post and cross frame on all my traps as well. The pan post can losen up over time so a couple of spot welds keeps that from happening. The cross frame on bridger traps is riveted so they really don't need welding but I still do it out of habit. The nail welded to the dog is to keep it from getting bent up... I replaced the steel pan bolt and lock nut with a stainless steel bolt and lock nut. I also cut the "Hook" off the springs on all my bridger traps. I've never had a problem with them but after hearing from a few guys that have lost critters because the "hook" got caught in the trap chain and popped the spring off, I cut all mine off now.

VERY NICE WORK!!! You must have a hell of a welder or you must be a hell of a welder to weld small places like the dog and not burn it plum off. With my old ark welder I would have beads of weld everywhere on that trap before I would even hit the dog. I see that you use #3 chain as I do, some laugh at me and say that it is over kill, but to me there is nothing better then over kill on anything. I learned that on my dump truck, the stouter the better.
Good job there Jeff, wish I had your talent.
