I have duke number threes that have been used for a few years. I was thinking about 4 coiling them. Is this too much for bobcats. If I do 4 coil them do I need to baseplate and/or laminate them?

Not sure why you want to 4-coil them.Is it to make them faster, come up thru frosty ground,or to give them weak springs a boost? If you 4-coil them, you'll probably need to base plate them to help with bending trap frame. One of my favorite cat traps is the #3 DLS.By nature, the longspring traps aren't as quick as coil springs, but all my cats are buried deep in them when caught.Ofcourse,I only use them exposed,so they don't have to come thru cover, but they've been used on coyotes and preformed good.Aren't those Dukes jaws swagged?Don't know how much contact surface they have, but if not swagged, lamenations probably wouldn't hurt.
