That is weird, kinda looks like 2 sets of tracks but probably not. I would say what you think is a tail dragging is the paw dragging the snow as it takes the next step (deep snow).

I thought it might be two sets of tracks too. They were just like this for more than 4 hundred yards. That's as far as I followed them. Never separated.

My guess is a split tailed eight legged opossum, Just a wild guess, interesting tracks though!

It's got a light crust. The steps are not more than 8" apart.

We are all correct. Its a yote on crusted snow carrying a bird in it mouth.

Looks like some sort of rodent. Tracks are going to look a lot bigger cuz of breaking through the crust.
