My opinion is they are crap! I have a half dozen, had no idea how to base plate them because of the goofy stamped metal frame, so I didn't. I tried to set two this weekend, without even stepping on them, using my hands to open the jaws, the frame bent like a bannana! I tried to straighted them, & the jaws popped out. I am going to only used these for coon, even though they might be a bit big for them. I would not trust these to a k-9! -T-

Thank you! I am stuck between a good coyote traps without paying my arm and leg. I was looking at the Montana #2's or Bridger fully mod #2's

The new Bridger 1-3/4 is the cat's meow for that sized trap. Dale Poor mans mb550! I've caught everything from possums to yote's in them things. Great trap for the $$$$$.

Just over the weekend I caught coons and otter in the bridger 1.75. It comes base plated and with heavy chain already. All I did was add another swivel. I really like it.

Is there any way to put 4 coils in a Montana #2 yes, just change your spring pin's or get the taso lighting springs kit..

does your Montanans have the long springs sticking out in the front? or are they short?

I personally don't have any but the ones on f&t look short I believe. The are coil spring traps not long springs
