Trying to get back into trapping, didn't do much before & just muddled through it then. I'm going to make my own bait, for coon trapping to start. I've been watching YouTube videos, & have decided to use sardines & jack mac mixed for bait. Most of the videos I've watched said to use glycerine, but I've also seen some that use canola or vegetable oil. Would vegetable oil do it, or should I use glycerine?

Glycerin......I don't like the results of veggie oil in my baits.

That's kind of what I thought. I've seen where some people use RV anti-freeze, but I'm not sure about using it. I know it's non-toxic, but for some reason I can't help but feel that it has an odor that would scare away the coons. However the smell of sardines or jack mac kind of repels me!!!

So what is GOOD Glycerine?
I very much dislike it when someone says "you gotta use GOOD this and GOOD that" but they wont tell you what is the GOOD stuff or the BAD stuff.

Really. Man, we meed to work harder to make you happy, don't we?
Short answer- I sell GOOD Glycerine.
Long answer- GOOD Glycerine costs about twice what dime-store Glycerine costs.
Propylene Glycol is not a very good antifreeze for bait. It's passable until temperature extremes as anti-freeze for dirt.

imo, nothing scares a coon; they will come in your house if given the chance

For coon save some money and mix your Jack Mack with veggie oil, it works just fine, its not going to be freeze proof but its workable.

If it gets cold enough to freeze your coon bait with veggie oil on it then the coon ain't gonna be out there anyway... They gonna be shacked up...

Whats the ingredients in GOOD Glycerin?

Whats the ingredients in GOOD Glycerin? Glycerin has the molecular formula C3H5(OH)3. It consists of a chain of three carbon atoms such that each carbon atom is bonded to a hydrogen atom (H+) and a hydroxyl group (OH-). Each of the two terminal carbon atoms has an additional hydrogen atom so that all three carbon atoms have a total of four bonds. Carbon has a valence of four, meaning that it has a tendency to form four bonds. By the way its made from really good veggie oil

Made my bate tonight, got some glycerine at Wally World. I know it's probably not the "GOOD" stuff, but it's the best I could find. Going to try it this weekend & next week. Now all I have to do is try to remember how to make a set! Thanks for all the replies! Hopefully I'll get a bunch of coons, don't think anyone is trapping in my area.
