What bait do you use for trapping coyotes.

I use rabbit deer beef chicken pork.... it really doesn't matter. The whole idea is to get their attention and make them work the set. The more they want the bait the longer they work the set. That means more of a chance of catching. I try and use a bait scent combination that is natural yet still different enough to peak curiosity.

Pretty much just use lure...
It is a a prove fact however that a coyote will walk past a fresh bait to get to a tainted one. Something to think about.

I was cleaning out a barn down in kentucky with a friend of mine and came across a big jar of channel cat dip bait. Naturally being a trapper I had to stick my nose in it and thought it smelled good and bloody with a little cheese too. I stuck it in a dirthole set Tuesday and had a small coyote in it this morning. I think that proves that any bait that makes them stop and work the set is what will work. And I'm betting that idea will work no matter the location....

I caught a coyote last year with some bacon grease and a crab leg in a dirt hole, and I am not joking here

If you set on location, you can get the attention of a coyote and make him work your set with about any smell. That is if you dont scare it away with your attrackter.

I like lure and bait. My TAr Vait is the best ive found for canines and exes cousin caught bobs in Missouri on it. If anyone wants the recipe hollar. I dont keep lure or bait secrets. I sold lure and bait commercially for decades.
