Thanks again Big John I have been looking for J-mac and unable to find it. I got some regular mackerel and it is good to know that they are the same thing because I did not know that.

See plenty in the stores until trapping season, then it gets in short supplies.I don't think it's cause people eat more of it during the winter lol. Mackerel is great coon bait, but I have an issue with it in my DPs.There is alot of salt in there and it will cause rusting. One of the reasons I'm grinding carp and making my own for DPs. Oh and that it's $1.xx a can too.

Don , I have a bunch of Carp if you want to do some grinding. I have about 400# of whole frozen fish now and about to have plenty more when I give the word to my supplier.
I'll start grinding in about a month and then look out. LOL

Troy, what are you using to grind your carp with? I saw a video of some guys using a chipper and running carp through it.They had several hundred pounds and I believe they were selling it in 5 gal buckets.Couldn't really see it all that good as I'm sure the guy with the camcorder was trying to avoid flying scales lol.

John , I saw them into smaller pieces while they are still frozen , let them thaw and then grind them with a motorized meat grinder. I need to find a better way as I have burned out a couple of motors in the past. When you start grinding several hundred pounds of fish things tend to get more than a little warm. I can get 1000# or more of carp from this guy if I want it , every year. I have 3 freezers full right now and he keeps asking if I want more. I should take every fish he can bring me and grind it up and sell it by the bucket. Man I need a walk in freezer or two. LOL
I bet he was ducking and diving quit a bit if they were using a chipper. Carp scales will put a mans eye out. LOL
