This isn't about trapping, but I just saw Okie Nooding II on DVD, and it is absolutely the best movie I've seen in years. It's available at

I swear, even if you don't know anything about noodling, you will love this one.

I used to do some noodling back when I was young and dumb!! LOL It was fun!! Had to watch for those Beavers back under the banks you sure didn't want to grab one of them!! I noodled several 21 pounders and several 25 pounders and tons of 10 to 18 pounders. I have scars on my hands to this day, we didn't use gloves back then. I haven't watched the videos but plan to. The one thing I didn't like was running into those cotton mouth snakes, boy did I come face to face with a few while noodleing and was lucky I was never biten!! I would never trade them days for anything. I had a great time, but I wouldn't do it again!! LOL I guess I'm smarter now days!! LOL

The show about the Noodler's is next Tues night Oct 6th at 6 pm Central on ESPN. It is an hour long show that has some other things in it, and the Noodling part runs just over 11 minutes.

Here are the links to the recent Noodler segment on ESPN on youtube. This is really good. Especially the on camera lies told by the MDC near the end of part two about their research. Of course ESPN didn't check these out and expose them, but people who have been following the story know all about them.

I guess you fall into that whimp catagory, you come up and we will go over on the IL. river and you can see first hand what all the fun is about. Come on!!!! It's the cheapest fun a person can have, 365 days a year.

Grabbing fish will have ZERO effect on a catfish population. The numbers are on the Noddler's side. Politics are on the, uh, POLITIONS side.

There are states that have noodling 365 days a year and the only state that touch's missouri that dont have a season is Iowa.
I can get in the boat with my wife,Put out 100 hooks on the mississippi and take more fish in one day, than what would be caught noodling in a year.
Like you said, It makes no sence, at all.
With a 25.00 out of state permit, you can noodle 365 day's a year on the mississippi on the Il.
Less than a quarter of a mile from missouri. They have been doing it as long as i can remember.
The comercial fishers Can remove more fish in a day than what a noodler will in a life time.
i think that the biggest part of the hole YOU CANT THING is that there is no one in the law making office that has ever done it, or has the balls to try it.

I'd like to see there figures on how it hurts the catfish!! I do know the best success for the big cats is during breeding season and thats really the worst time to be pulling them off and taking them.

I just recently saw a show on public television about noodling and the controversy here in Mo. All I can say is sheesh. We did it when I was a kid (that is how my grandpa taught me to fish) and I never new it was illegal until years later. Guess I was lucky. I never got caught but I grabbed my fair share out of the Osage before the dam went in. Sorry.
