 recycling foam
« Thread Started on Nov 5, 2009, 5:51am »

got some 10 by 10 inch foam pads out of a ups shipping box and thought i could use them for trapping this season. they are about 5/8 inches thick and i found out that just cutting them in small squares wasnt gonna get it cause when i brought my pan down level i noticed that the foam stuck up above the jaw edges. so to remedy this i cut them to the exact size of my pan and bingo, it looks good now!

Nice idea :) How much did you need to change your tension to offset the foams resistance?

none, the foam is really low density. i may want to ease off some on those set for fox or whatever but i think ill be good on the rest

You really need to wrap that foam in those thin sandwich bags to keep them from absorbing moisture, and freezing.

didnt think about that dale thanks for reminding me. i think ill try em but ill end up going back with polyfill. i read a post about putting the trap in ziploc bags, tried it and the bag didnt rip like iwas told and the bag held enough dirt to keepthe jaws open abouta half an inch, just enough to let a critter get away

Those thin ones (sandwich bags) WITHOUT the zipper are the ticket.
